When should wire sawing be used?
Wire sawing is the perfect technique when confronted with the issue of removing substantial areas of heavily reinforced concrete in complex situations where there is limited access. We can achieve cutting rates in excess of 2sqm per hour and can also cut circular openings up to 2500mm diameter producing clean, straight and smooth cut surfaces with no damage to the remaining structure.

Diamond wire is a continuous steel cable with diamond impregnated beads spaced 10mm to 30mm apart. The wire is passed around the area that needs cutting and around the wire saw pulleys. Both ends are then joined together, to form a loop, using a hydraulic crimping tool enabling cutting to commence. When cutting, a continuous stream of water is used to lubricate and cool the wire and remove the concrete in a slurry form and to act as a dust suppressant. If water is an issue, we can offer a dry wire sawing alternative. Wire sawing is ideal for cutting large concrete masses at high speed and also avoids overcutting. Holes are drilled to place the wire saw precisely where you want to start and end the cut.
